Change to paraquat threshold quantities

WorkSafe Victoria has announced key changes to the Occupational Health and Safety Regulations 2017 in relation to Paraquat Dichloride.

The “Problem with Paraquat” (Paraquat Dichloride) was described in our 2022 blog article here, whereby Victoria had not set a specific threshold for Paraquat, resulting in some sites being unintentionally captured by the Major Hazard Facility regulations.

The amendments introduced by WorkSafe Victoria address this issue, increasing the threshold quantities for materials containing Paraquat (by specifically naming two different thresholds based on concentration within Table 1 of Schedule 14).
