Update on the Comprehensive Review of the ADG Code

A comprehensive review of the Australian Code for the Transport of Dangerous Goods by Road & Rail (the ADG Code) commenced in 2020 by the National Transport Commission (NTC). As part of the review, the NTC are seeking stakeholder feedback on various aspects of the ADG Code.

One of the objectives of the comprehensive review is to ensure the ADG Code requirements are proportionate to the risk. Stakeholders are currently invited to provide feedback on:

  • the safety equipment required to be carried on vehicles that are transporting significant quantities of dangerous goods; and

  • firefighting equipment required to be carried on vehicles that are transporting dangerous goods.

To facilitate consultation, a series of topic specific discussion papers have been prepared and can be accessed here.

Opportunities to comment on these provisions close on 9 July 2023 with further opportunity to comment on other provisions within the ADG Code expected over the next 12 months.
